TDY in Long Island

Ron Feilen remembers temporary duty at Army Pictorial Center in 1955:

I spent two weeks at APC in late May/early June 1955. I was one of 24 or so Air Force Tactical Instructors from Sampson Air Force Base, New York, who flew from Sampson to Mitchell Air Force Base in Hempstead and bussed to APC to do an Air Force basic training film. A familiar TV actor of the era, George Smith had a major part.

The bar - a dime for a scotch? Yep. We had a ball. For most of us, it was the first time in the big city. For me, it was home. I lived in Franklin Square, Long Island, and my dad gave me his car to go back and forth to Long Island City.  While all the rest slept in their racks on the second floor of an open bay in LIC, I slept in my own bed.

Actually, I am writing to see if anyone can help me track down that 50 year old film. A bad first marriage left me without any pictures of myself prior to the mid 70s. Thanks to all. Ron Feilen, bf824@earthlink.net.
